The First National A-Z ELT Conference, held at Bahcesehir Cyprus University (BAU Cyprus) on May 24-25, 2024, successfully brought together scholars, English language teachers, and students from 11 universities, 7 private colleges, and several government schools and colleges. Sponsored by EAQUALS, Macmillan Education, and BAU Cyprus, this two-day event featured a series of presentations and workshops delivered by both local scholars and representatives from TEDSIG of TESOL Turkiye Foundation from Turkey.
The conference provided a platform for to-be teachers of English (ELT students) and novice teachers with less than 10 years of experience to engage in enriching training sessions conducted by experienced trainers from Turkiye and North Cyprus institutions. These sessions were designed to enhance teaching methodologies, share best practices, and foster professional growth among attendees.
“The First National A-Z ELT Conference has been a remarkable success, bringing together a vibrant community of educators committed to advancing English language teaching,” said Eda Aşılmaz, Director of Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School at BAU Cyprus. “The collaborative spirit and shared knowledge will undoubtedly contribute to the development of more effective and inclusive teaching practices.”
Participants expressed their appreciation for the high-quality sessions and the opportunity to network with peers and experts in the field. The conference underscored the importance of continuous professional development and the role of innovative teaching strategies in meeting the diverse needs of students.
