Bahçeşehir Cyprus University, an active member of the “United Nations Academic Impact” (UNAI) and the “UN-Habitat”, has intensified its UN related activities by joining the “United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Partnership Platform” at the beginning of 2020.
With this partnership, BAU Cyprus initially aims to make sure all its staff and students truly understand what UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are and why we need them. Secondly, BAU Cyprus intends to mobilize its personnel and students for effective implementation of these goals within the university. Finally, it the objective of BAU Cyprus to reach out to officials of TRNC and the members of the Turkish Cypriot society to create awareness about SDGs and lobby for their implementation.
By becoming a member of the “United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Partnership Platform”, BAU Cyprus also participated in UN’s “Higher Education Sustainability Initiative” (HESI), which was created in the run-up to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20). BAU Cyprus is currently the only university to take part in this UN initiative from the island.
